Mixed Bean Chilli

This recipe is a healthy alternative to a meat chilli. It contains different beans which are full of Protein, Fibre and Iron. To make it even healthier add more frsh vegetables such as Spinach.



1 tablespoon of Olive or Vegetable oil

1/2 tin of Kidney Beans

1 small tin of butterbeans

1 small tin of Chickpeas

1 large tin of baked beans

1 red pepper, chopped

2 cloves of Garlic, peeled and chopped

1 onion, finely chopped

1 teaspoon of chilli Powder



  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and gently fry the onion, pepper and garlic for about 5 minutes until soft.
  2. Add the kidney beans, butter beans, chickpeas, baked beans (in their sauce) and chilli powder to the mix. You may need to add a little water to stop the mixture sticking.
  3. Bring to the boil and simmer on a low heat for about 15 minutes.
  4. Serve with Tortilla Wraps or boiled Rice
